Hua Thanon

Chaweng Lamai Maenam Nathon Huathanon Choengmon

Passing Lamai the Muslim fishing village of Hua Thanon is clustered around a 90-degree turn. The main attraction of Hua Thanon is the culture and life of the local fishermen and there are some lovely old fashioned wooden houses in the coconut groves as well.
The beach is not very pleasant and is mainly a working environment. The waters are shallow and not good for swimming. Take a glimpse into the lifes of the island's original communities and the unspoiled natural scenery of the south coast of Samui.

The Muslim fishermen immigrated a long time ago from the Malay Peninsula and settled on Samui. Colorful painted wooden boats are used to catch and deliver fish directly to the local markets. Here in the south you will find quaint local villages and coconut plantations that have endured the test of time.

Hua Thanon offers a handful local seafood restaurants and while you are around you should try some freshly 'Thai style' prepared fish and enjoy the scenery.
